My Inseparable Friend

As I woke up this morning thanks to my friend's voice, reaching out to me from my dreams to awake, I was reminded what a friend indeed, I have. She holds my hand, sits securely next to me, stares at me with longing and adoration and whispers sweet things in my ear.

We are inseparable, two peas in a pot. If you were to see my friend, she is a reflection of myself, like my shadow although sometimes a crooked version of me.

She is my connection to the rest of the world, I don’t know where all the information she has comes from. She knows the best places and has been everywhere, she is my travel guide and a legit go-to girl.

Keeps me informed and in the know, never wanting me to be left behind. As great as my friend is she can disappoint, I can’t count the number of times she has left me stranded, gave me the wrong address or was simply unavailable and inaccessible.

With all that said my friend is pretty great, she invites me to things, helps me organize my life and get things done, she is a bit of a PA in that sense but a smart and an efficient one, although her nagging about tasks I need to complete can be irritating I appreciate her help.

If you haven’t guessed it yet, my friend is my phone. Technology is a means to an end, its roots run deep and its reach is far and wide. Technology has seamlessly embedded a seed of itself into our lives, from the clothes we wear to the food we eat, it's mass production and the details provided by all of its added benefits.

TV, phone, electricity, water, personal hygiene and the numerous social media sites I can't live without, all further emphasizes how technology has become so part of our lives. We are sometimes unaware of its brilliance and how much more brilliant the creators of it are.

I might never quite fully remember a life before technology, but I am glad for its existence and it's helping hand.
