Hack-a-Skate at the Skateboarding World Championships

Life is a dream, things get crazy almost every time we check our phones, computers, read a paper and we see this everywhere we go. Technology is changing our world at a faster rate, the future comes much sooner than expected.

The Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Geekulcha have realized the rate at which the change is going and we need to get everyone on the board. Through the collaboration, we launched the SkateHacks initiative with an intention of making skateboards smart and cool through Open Source technologies.

SkateHacks activities are rolled out during the Kimberley Diamond Cup tours as a lead up to the Skateboarding World Championships. Skaters and Makers come together and build Innovative projects through electronics systems and mobile apps.

Now it's your turn! Can you innovate and Hack-a-Skate? Come through to #GKHack16, come up with a super cool project and you could win a trip to exhibit and watch the world skaters at the Skateboarding Championships in Kimberley!

If you are in the Northern Cape, you will get an opportunity at the annual NCDev Hackathon that will take place in Upington, 19 - 20 August.

Go ahead and take part, your skateboarding Innovation could be tested out by the world best skaters! See you at #GKHack16
