#gkVacWork Goes To Nababeep

One of the most exciting school programmes in the land, the Geekulcha VacWork programme powered by the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDaT) finally goes to the Northern Cape. This is one of the initiatives for youth skills development in the Northern Cape.

Aimed for school learners, the programme is championed by the Nama eSkills Center, Mr James Jonas. About 60 youngsters will be taught about ICT and Entrepreneurship skills that they can use to accelerate Digital Transformation in the province.

Namabeep is situated about 22km outside Springbok in the Namaqualand district. VacWork programme will run from 04 - 08 July.

Holidays with the Geeks - youngsters will be coming to a simulated working environment, mentored by the Geeks in building innovative solutions. The programme focuses on mobile apps, web applications, electronics/robotics, graphics design and business skills development.

A career day is hosted as part of the schedule. Dressed in formal, the youngsters will present their solutions on the last day.

Other collaborators onto the programme includes Layyers and the DCVH. It's going to be an interesting week of learning, exploring and innovating towards the Digital freedom.

The mobile trolley for Rural Skills development will be used to reach out and empower the youth.
